GRIS GRIS

mutewax returns with its second solo release from mutewax head honcho, Mutecell. This project is a symbiosis of Mutecell's take on the Berlin sound with memories from the Mauritian scene.

The E.P. kicks off with the eponymous Gris Gris, a slow-burn acid breakbeat track. Just like its namesake, a beach off the south coast of Mauritius known for its breathtaking scenery, this track adopts an atmospheric nature that eventually takes hold of your psyche. Then, more static territory is delved with the hypnotic Insomnia, named after an iconic nightclub in the north of the island. This track is sure to rope you into a trance with its catchy synth lines and repetitive grooves. Ending the E.P. full-throttle with Dark Room, a track with Mutecell's signature robotic chaotic sonorities. The Dark Room was the alternative dancefloor of the legendary A.G. nightclub where Mutecell started his career as a DJ in Mauritius. A fast-paced peak time banger that is sure to send chills down the spine.

This opus hints to us on what to expect for his upcoming album ONAC1D.
