mutewax returns with MW010, the full six-track record from label head Mutecell, and the tenth in the catalogue. 101 MOONS and S1GIL went out ahead of it as MW010A and MW010B. Here they take their place in the running order, with three tracks arriving unheard.

Three of them arrive unheard. The title track R3VENGE F4NTASIES runs six minutes and eight seconds at 140 BPM, and was deliberately not spent on an earlier single. SLOW BURN SCH3ME is the longest of the six, six minutes and thirty-seven seconds at 142 BPM. B4D PO3TRY closes the record: 135 BPM, six minutes and twenty-four seconds, with a dynamic range of 12.3 against 1.0 for 101 MOONS. After five tracks built to hold a room, the last one is the one with air in it. Delicate, airy melodies ride a broken-beat structure, weaving bittersweet melancholy and cinematic suspense into a groove built for the floor.

Four of the six sit inside two BPM of each other, so it plays as one session rather than a collection: 36:36, between 135 and 145 BPM. The titles run in order. Counting nights, the mark, writing it down, the wish you cannot act on, the plan, the words that fail. A sigil is what gets made when words are not enough, and the record ends exactly there.

One, then two, then six. A track, then a pair, then the record they were cut from. On the cover the scarab returns a third time, cut in paper by Chloé Ip, its wings gone red, the eye wide open. It was on the flyer for the label's first night, before anyone called it a signature. It was a sigil all along.

He mastered all three parts himself. It is the first time he has done his own mastering. The record was finished at bōucan road studios in Mauritius, with a cover by Chloé Ip and design by AVNEESH: a record made by Mauritians, twelve years after the label opened in Berlin. The symbiosis of Berlin techno and Mauritian club culture remains the identity of this producer: bold, underground, and globally rooted.
