mutewax returns with MW010B, a two-track EP from label head Mutecell. The second single from MW010 R3VENGE F4NTASIES, it follows MW010A 101 MOONS and lands two weeks before the full six-track record.

The title track S1GIL is the fastest thing in the series: 145 BPM, five minutes and forty-four seconds, named after an amulet he actually wears. A sigil is a wish pressed into a shape, language collapsed into a symbol so it can be carried. That is what the scarab has been for this label since the flyer for its first night, and this is the record that says so.

P4PYRUS runs at 142 BPM for five minutes and forty-one seconds. Deeper and more mysterious, it is a sneaky, danceable cut driven by a groovy arrangement that unfolds like a search. Papyrus is what the mark gets written down on.

One and one. Two tracks, two ones side by side, running for eleven minutes and twenty-five seconds. On the cover the scarab returns, cut in paper by Mauritian collage artist Chloé Ip, its pale wings cut from the same papyrus as the body: the eye shut dark where the moon sat before, and two strips of papyrus standing on the lid: eleven.

He mastered all three parts himself. It is the first time he has done his own mastering. The record was finished at bōucan road studios in Mauritius, with a cover by Chloé Ip and design by AVNEESH: a record made by Mauritians, twelve years after the label opened in Berlin. The symbiosis of Berlin techno and Mauritian club culture remains the identity of this producer: bold, underground, and globally rooted.
